The Grand Finale

world on a finger

I have loved doing this blog over the past couple of months but I have to move to more pressing issues in my life and career. In trying to Change the World I need to begin taking more action which is what I plan to do.

I am going to have this post up for a few days with a final message.

Look outside yourself. I have written many posts on being introverted or extroverted and various charities, groups and organizations; about character and humanity; about people and the way the world interacts with you and you the world.

My idea I want to present to you now is to see the extroversion inside of you (isn’t that a contradictory statement). I have said before that there are people who can travel the world and be in incredible places and experiences and not even look outside themselves.

The reason I love to stare up at the stars or watch the sun rise and set is because it reminds me of my place in the universe. I am nothing without those around me as far reaching as the other side of the world. A person is nothing without other people. To look only within yourself is to not except the power and importance of those who you may not even know.

To live solely for yourself is vain but to live for yourself and the world is empowering. Helping those outside your own comfort zone actually has benefits for all, including yourself. The Golden Rule is called golden for a reason.

As I sit here outside by a fire, after having a long-and-great conversation with an old friend who just left (came to keep me company while I am sick), I remember the most important aspect of my life is other people. Without them life would be meaningless so to devote myself to others brings me great and fulfilling Life Meaning.

I say tomorrow, you wake up and do your usual routine. Drink your coffee; tread mill for fifteen minutes; whatever. But then during that day I want you to try something. Try following an old rule of the Boy Scouts and do a good deed for someone else in that day. A good turn for someone else in the long run is a good turn for the world and yourself.

It does not have to be a great and powerful showing to your fellow man but a simple gesture of selflessness can bring a great change if done enough by enough people. It could even Change the World.

To keep up with me in the future head over to my personal blog WarrenGreeley.com/Blog to read my future posts. They are on topics of business, writing, and generally trying to change the world.

Thank you for reading. Thanks for caring.

global social experiment

Monday, September 17th, 2007

I am working on a global social experiment that I am hoping will shed some light on the diverse views of people around the world. I cannot say much more now about it but I want to let you know it is not online, nor on the computer in general. This experiment goes back to the basics and I hope it to be world wide. If you want to be a part of it drop me a line and I’ll consider letting you in on the secret.

a message of peace

Fire Fighters

Six years ago today my world came tumbling down. I, like the rest of Americans and many around the world were devastated at the live images of a terror attack on American soil. Today I do not want to discuss everything that has happened since. My views on this day are not important. The semantics and politics mean nothing on this day.

Today I want to send a message of peace. On this day I want people from all over the world to stop what they are doing for just a moment and thing about it. No matter your side, your views, your politics, your faith; remember that we are all people and all need each other.

Today is the day to honor and cherish the memories of those lost on September 11th, 2001. Today is a time to honor all of those who have died afterwards and the heros who have saved so many lives. Now is the time to pray for the families of all these people. Today is the time to pray that peace will come in the world and people will realize that we all are wrong and we all are right and that understanding this can save lives.

For today we are all united in a cause of peace. This day can symbolize what has happened and what will happen again if change is not made. Take today to reflect on our mistakes of the past and use them to make a better tomorrow.

remember those outside our borders

Part of introversion is forgetting those that are not like us. Many people can easily brush off things happening elsewhere just because they are strangers, just people in distant lands. But the truth is they are still people and thus equal to us all. Sometimes it is the little things that can impact huge change. Check out this video to see what I mean…

Enough said.

realistic optimism

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

“The end is near,” is the message that seems to be stuck in the heads of journalists and policy makers in our current times but I see the world today and it’s future differently. I see a world that is growing stronger and better all the time.

Yes, there are many problems. There are corrupt people, tyrants, megalomaniacs bent on doing harm to the world. (I would say Terrorists as well if that word wasn’t so misused now a days). But there have always been these type of people. There have always been famine, disease, bias, hate, war and other problems.

What there haven’t always been are cures, charity organizations, diplomatic solutions, resolutions. We are growing into an age of new hope for all of people. Look at all we have done in our generation, there is so much progress already made. There is more equality and less bigotry now than ever in history. We have cures or treatments for nearly all the ailments know to man. We are near to a cure for cancer. Our military tactics focus on preserving life now more than ever. And there is so much more.

Now imagine in the next generation what we will see. There has always and will always be problems but as we progress as a more and more connected world, our solutions build on themselves to fix these problems and make us all better off. I do not see imminent demise in our future. It would be irrational of me to think this way. Our present speaks otherwise. I see, more realistically, a world that has matured. A world that could cure cancer and other diseases, stop hostile situations more peacefully, find equality in all fellow humans, reach new heights in technology, communication, travel even to new worlds, and so much more.

To all the cynics - If you really don’t agree with what your reading in this then why don’t you stop your complaining and do something to better the situation. Your cynisism will get the world no where but your efforts will push us even farther into the great future ahead.

To everyone else - Keep fighting the good fight. Our world has so much promise in it and people like you are going to make it even better as we go along. Don’t listen to the ranting of those mentioned above who believe the world will end. They are fueled by dramatism and emotion and their thoughts are not realistic.

blog action day | october 15th

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Through reading ProBlogger I stumbled upon a new really innovative idea for the online community to raise awareness. This is something I will be definitely be involved in and hope others who read this and have their own blog will follow too. What the concept is, is a Blog Action Day in which bloggers from around the globe write on a topic to better our world. The first topic for October 15th is the Environment and the Blog Action Day website calls on a mass amount of bloggers from all over the world to write about the environment in their own right, how they view it.

There has been a media frenzy lately on the blogosphere about how it is comprised of amateurs. This may be true to a certain extent but amateur does not mean idiot. Blog writers are becoming the new source of information and readers are responsible to check the source just like with a periodical or television news network. Now this is an out of the ordinary idea to get the amateurs and the professionals, the elite and common man all talking at once about the problems this world faces. It could have a major impact. Check out more and see for yourself if you want to get your blog involved at blogactionday.org.
