under the rediculous humor

Hollywood is criticized quite often about the utter crap that comes out in the box office and on television. Well for the most part - yes, it is crap. But in many films and television shows there is an underlying truth about the world that is subtle but can be found if it is looked for.

In one of my personal favorites, South Park, kids of much to young an age to know some of the things they do, go on adventures in perversion and ridiculous concept. But normally underneath all the “You killed Kenny” and the “Screw you guys - I’m going home,” there is a message to nearly every episode for the more than a decade of air time it now has under it’s belt. Some of these lessons are pretty profound like respecting other’s views and the importance of friendship.

In the movie industry, films like “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” have underlying demonstrations of stereotypes and “Superbad” shows women are something to be respected (and that cops can have fun too).

When watching a movie most view the surface which is the seemingly senseless and stupid slapstick or raunchy comedy but tend to forget to look for the underlying lesson that can be learned by such an out there situation that the overly audacious characters face.

Next time you are at a movie, try to look for what lies beneath the hilarity and maybe you may come out less offended and more fulfilled.

Got any other crazy movies I didn’t mention that have awesome meanings behind them? Leave a comment and let me know.
